When Selene is six, Mother is amazed by all the things Selene can remember. (What does she remember? Everything.)
When Selene is ten, Mother doesn't understand. Selene was just curious about what Minerva was doing with her boyfriend. And the chocolate syrup.
When Selene is twelve, Mother is the most powerful known psi-healer. But Selene is no psi at all.
By fourteen, Mother is annoying, and Selene has other mentors. She stays on Byte, learning advanced programming and electronics, when her family leaves.
