Avatar Minific: Walk Into Our Houses and Burn
The icon is the only Avatar icon I've got. Set just after the end of season two.
Walk Into Our Houses and Burn
Zuko is lost in thought when he leaves Azula's side, when he leaves her stolen throne. He walks through hallways that were once the Earth King's, following some smiling woman who, he dimly hears, is named Jui-De.
She leads him to a fine, fine room, and bows him in as the honored Prince. And when he walks inside... There's a young woman there, her hair in Fire Nation style, though she's dressed like one of those wretched Kyoshi girls. She's as pale as the finest nobles, her hair is black as coal, she lounges like an assassin, and for a long moment, Zuko can only feel that she is home.
"Hey," she says in greeting. "I'm your bodyguard."
"Mai," Zuko replies, surprised. The hot I don't need a bodyguard blows itself out, unspoken, when he realizes that, of all people, she looks at him and his face...
And no matter that her mouth is set in long-held lines of ennui -- when Mai looks at him, her eyes burn.
